Belsay - Image 4

With Fashion At Belsay (29 May - 30 Sept 2004) English Heritage invited 13 of Britain’s most innovative fashion designers to respond to the magnificent neo classical mansion Belsay Hall, with art installations rather than garments.

Eley Kishimoto in collaboration with 6a architects responded to this challenge by creating a piece that set out to explore the relationships between the city and the individual. Combining techniques used in textile printing, delicate patterns were applied to everyday, humble materials such as cement boards to create structures that inhabit both the urban and the intimate setting.
